How to Improve Cash Flow With Factoring and Invoice Finance

What exactly are factoring and invoicing financing? Many people confuse the two in a slightly misguided belief that they are in fact the same business method. However, they are not. Factoring at its most basic is the short sale of accounts receivable at a slight discount to an institution that wishes to purchase said accounts in an effort to make money on their investment. Invoice financing is a short term loan based on using the account receivable as collateral.

Factoring allows for the quick acceptance of cash on an outstanding account receivable. This means that the business owner has been paid much sooner for a transaction that may have required weeks, to a few months, to complete normally. They take a slight payment hit in the form of the discount granted to the purchaser, but they have immediate cash to continue their business concerns. This is an exceptional aide to any business, but is extremely useful for small to moderate size businesses and new start-ups.

With invoice financing a loan equal to a portion of the account receivable is generated and granted to the business owner. Generally the loaner, as well as companies that purchase discounted accounts receivable, do not care about the credit rating of the company that is acquiring the loan. They will instead focus on the company or entity that owes money to that company. This is due to the fact that it isn’t the business that is requesting the loan that is in credit based doubt. The doubt will lie with the one that owes that business money. Since the collateral for the loan is the money owed to the business this is the primary concern credit wise for the lender.

There are companies in existence that focus on this aspect of business as their primary enterprise. They specialise in acquiring new accounts receivable at a discount or with lucrative lending practices and have become a vital force for the small to moderately sized business. Even larger more established companies utilise these services regularly in the current market.

With invoice finance or factoring service on tap, any business with reasonable sales and a client base that is known to actually pay money owed can maintain a steady cash flow. Instead of running short mind month like so many smaller businesses tend to do, a business with factoring contacts can maintain a steady flow of currency and continue to grow in a steady and relatively safe manner.

There are two items to be concerned about in this type of business transaction both of which revolve around payment actually being rendered by the account that owes money to the business. If a business sells an account receivable at a discount, but the money is never sent or is somehow lost in translation the business owner will be liable for refunding the money to the purchaser. Similarly with an invoice financing contract, the company that acquired the loan will continue to be liable for money owed in accordance with that loan, and all its accompanying interest whether the account receivable is paid or not.

Holiday Season Fundraising

Winter time may bring outdoor activities for school and community organizations to a screeching halt but your fundraising efforts can endure.  The holiday season can mean an abundance of fundraising ideas for those creative enough to think of them. Of course, if you’re still unsure, that’s alright because eBoosterClub is going to give you some great ideas for fundraising during the holidays.

It truly is the season of giving but how many people are looking forward to wrapping all that cheer. Anyone? No? Well there’s your first cue for fundraising success during the holiday season…organize a gift wrap station.  Gift wrap stations are a great way to earn valuable fundraising dollars while enjoying the holiday season and they’re easy to organize. First, get yourself a group of wrappers. These can be your boosters, parents and friends of the organization, or the members of the organization. Keep in mind, this may not be the best activity for small children who aren’t the best coordinated yet. Of course, they can always lend a helpful hand. Next, get yourself and array of wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows. Finally, find yourself a location. A school gymnasium or cafeteria would work great! When visitors come to your fundraiser, ask for a one dollar donation per item wrapped and watch how many people take advantage of this fundraising activity.

Another great thing about the holidays is the food, especially the pies. Whether it’s pumpkin, pecan, custard, or any of the holiday favorites you can guarantee a lot of people will be buying a lot of pies. This is another great fundraising opportunity for your organization. A good old fashioned pie sale! There’s a trick to making this fundraiser successful though. You can find lots of ready-to-order pie fundraisers to use for your organization but most of the time these pies are so overpriced it’s hard getting anyone to purchase them. Instead, try visiting a local bakery and ask the owner/manager about selling their pies for a portion of the sales. You’d be surprised how many local bakeries would love to kick back some fundraising dollars to have their pies sold to the masses. For them it’s win-win. They get to make some serious sales and help their community while they’re at it. For your organization, you get another successful fundraiser using fresh baked pies from a local bakery instead of the overpriced frozen pies you may have offered in the past.

Finally, let’s not forget holiday shopping. Could you imagine how great your fundraising efforts would be if your organization received money whenever someone purchased a present. Well now you can. eBoosterClub is a great online service that gives your organization a free fundraising website. When you sign-up, you’ll get all the normal website pages (home, about us, event, etc.) but you’ll also get a free online mall. Your online mall has over 170 online retailers ready to sell all types of goods to your followers. Just in time for holiday shopping! The great thing about your online mall is when people make purchases at your mall, they earns your organization cash rewards. That’s right, just for shopping online. So make sure you tell all your friends and family to shop online at your eBoosterClub online fundraising mall this holiday season and you’ll have another successful fundraiser this winter.

What Should You Know About Grants for Small Businesses

In this age of recession small business grants are required and needed more than ever.

The U.S. federal, state and city financial institutions are offering very attempting and affordable grants to non profit organizations and small businesses. But, before you apply for this kind of program for your small business financing, you might need some extra information in order to spare some time and not get disappointed later on.

A federal grant is an award of financial assistance from a federal agency to a recipient to carry out a public purpose of support or stimulation authorized by a law of the United States. That is not referred to the federal assistance or loans to individuals.

Keep in mind that grants from the federal government are mostly available to non-commercial organizations, non-profits organizations and educational institutions (e.g. education, medicine, scientific research…). Some of the federal grants are available for you but not directly- there are award grants that federal government provide to state and local governments in order to help them with economic development, and these are the grants you might be able to take advantage of in financing your small business.

State grants provide grants for expanding child care centers, developing marketing campaign for tourism or creating energy efficient technology. Often, these grants are not free money and need to be combined with loans or other financial sources.

Even though there are no direct grants for small business available from the federal government, many state development agencies offer direct small business grants and other types of small business assistance designed to help small companies owners to start and expand their business.

The federal government programs called small business grants don’t exist, but that doesn’t mean you should be discouraged. However U.S. Government agencies do award hundreds of millions dollars in grants for specific services, research and programs such as housing, transportation, energy, education etc. There are also some federal grants which target businesses owned and performed by women or minorities.

Grants.gov is official government website (and organization), where you can find all the information about this and see (and fill in) the application form. It was established as a governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, part of the President’s 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public.

They offer over 1,000 grant programs and provide access to approximately $500 billion in annual awards. More than 1,000 grant programs are offered by the 26 federal grant-making agencies, and these programs fall into 21 categories (agriculture, arts, business and commerce, community development, health, education, regional development etc), few of them are available to individuals and none of them are available for personal financial assistance.

Still, lately grants.gov programs had much success helping individuals. They have surpassed 300,000 submissions for fiscal year 2009. Submissions have grown by nearly 50 percent over fiscal year 2008. In fiscal year 2008 there were a total of 202,366 application submissions for the entire fiscal year. Much of the growth experienced this year may be attributed to the Recovery Act, which resulted in increased overall website traffic and application submissions.

Due to the rapid influx of traffic and subsequent strain placed on the system, many challenges were presented this year. Grants.gov however have maintained the single electronic entry-point for accessing grants from all 26 federal grant-making agencies, providing a unified and streamlined process for finding and applying for all federal grant opportunities.

A Stop Smoking Programme That Could Turn your Life Round Forever

Smoking is damaging not only to the smoker’s body, also to their income and the economy at large. Billions of dollars are spent each year to treat people for diseases that are 100% preventable if they would just quit smoking. For employers who pay the premiums of their employees’ health insurance it is cheaper to pay the cost of stop smoking programme than to continue to shell out for medical bills for the next ten or twenty years.

The free and Clear Quit for Life programme is one of the most effective stop smoking programmes on the market today. It can be done individually, but is also tailored to a corporate environment to lead an office-wide smoking cessation movement. There are three areas that the Quit for Life programme targets: physical, psychological, and behavioural. Each one of these areas is a different facet of a smoking addiction and each need to be targeted separately in order for quitting to be successful.

The first step of the programme involves making contact with a Quit Trainer, either over the phone or in your office. The trainer and the smoker come up with a personalized plan to help the smoker quit that is based on his tobacco use history and current smoking behaviours. Further meetings are scheduled with the Quit Trainer to follow up on the progress of the programme.

They are then given access to Online Trainer, an Internet quitting tool and support community. Through the Online Trainer site you can chat with other people who are also quitting and going through the same troubles that you are. You can also read motivational material to inspire you to stay away from tobacco as well as medical facts about the ways that smoking will hurt you and your family.

If your Quit Trainer feels that your addiction is physical, they can recommend various over the counter and prescription quit smoking aids and medication that can help you to tame your cravings and get you through your quitting process as painlessly as possible. You will be given guidance on the proper dosage and the pros and cons of each type of quitting aid. You can also arrange to have these products mailed to your door so you don’t have to go out and hunt for them at the store.

The Quit for Life programme has nearly a 50% success rate, nearly the highest for any product or programme. If you are seriously about quitting smoking and embarking on a cleaner and healthier lifestyle, you should look into this or one of the many stop smoking programmes that are available through your employer, health insurance company, or Internet.

Find out about this Quit Smoking Program with the support of Ed Philips and download his free REPORT that explains just how easy it is to Quit Smoking Permanently.
